So after previously completing spotify playlists for the 70s and the 00s/10s i set myself the task of filling in the gaps with playlists for the 60s, 80s and 90s and can now present an (almost) complete history of modern popular music (The late 50s has some great tunes but not enough to do a long playlist and this new decade is a work in progress to be completed in 2030),

Please note there have also been some major updates to the previously released 70s and 00/10s playlists

The best music of the 1970's (a playlist in 8 parts)

Finally i have got round to tackling the only decade i hadn't yet had a crack at, the decade i was brought into this crazy place, the gloriously unfashionable 1970's. In the past i had dismissed the 70's due the fact the fashions were awful, life was pretty bleak for many people and much of the music got dated very quickly but looking back 40 years on with some perspective it was actually a very vibrant decade for music and a lot of the music that sounded dated by the start of the new millennium is now cool again because of that nostalgic lens we all have.

Another reason i hadn't done a 70's playlist before is because until the last 10 years i was still unaware of a lot of the best stuff to come out of that decade but thanks to the internet and having a lot of time on my hands i am now fully schooled and thanks to the increased amount of music on Spotify today i am finally able to present this playlist for y'all

The Best Music Of The Millennia So Far (A Comprehensive Playlist In 10 Parts)

Soooooo sometime towards the end of 2018 i realised we were almost 20 years into this new millennium and although certain things about the last two decades have ended up depressing us a wee bit such as the war on terror, the rise of the right, the increasing gap between the 1% and the rest, continued wars in Africa and the Middle East, Brexit, the X Factor, Donald Trump and the perplexing rise of Ed Sheeran there has thankfully also been amazing movies, video games, TV series and music to help us forget about all of the above so i decided to make my next project a comprehensive list of the best music of the millennium so far.

So below are 1863 songs from 1863 different artists from all over the world for you to enjoy placed in a list in such a way to fit seamlessly as a whole despite containing a wide range of genres and placed into easy(er) to consume spotify playlists. So you can scan the list below or just click on the links above the list if you don't want any spoilers

It will be interesting to see how many of these artists/tunes make the final list in 980 years time. If someone could please cryogenically freeze me and wake me up in 3000 so i could find out that would be awesome

67-69 The Golden Age Of Psychedelia (a DJ Sanyo playlist)

For years I've wanted to do a definitive 1960's playlist but knowing how long it took me to do the 90's list and realising the 60's one would be the same if not bigger I decide to concentrate on my favourite part of that decade and take a an acid trip down psychedelic memory lane.

I know this is a genre well represented by the Nuggets compilations but there was always lots of duff tracks on those cd's and I wanted to create a playlist with all the best psychedelic rock/pop/folk tracks from that golden era in one place so I did.
